Other World Computing (OWC) on Thursday announced new "SuperDrives" — DVD and CD burners — for Macs.

The company offers replacement drives including Panasonic-built 16x DVD Dual Layer and Pioneer 20x DVD Dual Layer drives for $29.99 and $34.99; both models are "tray loading" drives designed as replacements for existing internal drives in Mac Pros, Power Macs and other compatible Mac models.

OWC also sells "slot-loading" drives that act as replacements for laptop computers including the iBook and PowerBook, ranging from $109.99 to $119.99; and slot-loading drives for iMac, G4 Cube and Mac mini systems, priced from $99.95 to $199.

The drives OWC sells operate by Apple iLife, Roxio Toast, NTI Dragonburn and other CD and DVD authoring software. They're also bootable and compatible with Finder-based disc burning.
